Since its creation in 1936, the Hôtel du Port in Estavayer-le-Lac has been much more than just a place to stay: it is a real family affair, imbued with authenticity, conviviality and a passion for hospitality.

It all began with Henri Schmid, an emblematic character of the village, distiller, fisherman and cooper by trade. A visionary, he diversified his activities by taking over the Hôtel du Port, then a small establishment on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel. He laid the foundations of a warm and family spirit that continues to this day.

The adventure continues with his daughter Suzie and son-in-law Joseph Fasel, who develop the hotel while keeping the relaxed and sincere atmosphere so dear to the regulars. In 1984, their son Henri, nicknamed Riri, took over the reins at only 29 years old with his wife Therese and breathed new life into the establishment.

Today, it is the fourth generation, represented by Stéphane and Dominique, who are preparing to perpetuate this family tradition. The Hotel du Port continues to offer authentic stays, where each guest is served with the greatest care.
